An American observer comments on French politics.
Tristane Banon seems credible to me. She even has that undertone of sadness so often seen in women who are victims of sexual violence. There is an hour long program on l'affaire DSK tonight on CNBC @ 10 pm EST. It will explore the legal, societal, and cultural ramifications of what happened at the Sofitel. Even has it's own FB EVENT page to follow in time if you don't get CNBC (the NBC Financial Cable News Channel).http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=148921491849898
Excellent interview of Tristane Banon. Shes comes through as calm, lucid, honest and determined. There is not much recent footage of her out there talking about her accusation against DSK. It will be hard for DSK defenders'to paint her has an hysterical mythomaniac.
The perfect person for DSK to work for now, and furthermore the only one who'd ever take him, and his wife-accomplice: Rupert Murdoch. He could be the capitalist pretending to be doing the world a service like Murdoch while she could go back to doing that old breathless toadying up to the rich she calls journalism.
@Passerby: those would be his more honorable defenders. There will be others who will accuse her of being another kind of maniac, the kind beginning with 'N'.
Good job by Banon and solid interview, as usual, by Pujadas: Just one thing: Why a live remote for a protagonist in a story of this importance, rather than a live, on set interview? I understand the Afghan attack, the lead story, took some precedence, but they could totally have switched studio guests once Gerard Longuet, the Defense Minister, was done answering questions. Pushing the Banon story back to the second half of the newscast almost makes her presence and remarks look like afterthoughts.
How can you smile during an interview on such case..."Histoire tiree par les cheveux" that will be an harassmentThis buzz story is skinny as as broom.A+
Tristane Banon is French. Her body language and facial expressions, as well as tone of voice are not the same as a those of an American woman. They are very normal and typical of a French woman of her social class, upbringing and education.
