An American observer comments on French politics.
Well, that tells you all you need to know...a 'coin VIP' at a PS party...that's equality for you.
@the fly in the web: Champagne Socialists and never more aptly named ?
Oh come on, it's all pretty down-market compared to Sarko's bash at Le Fouquet five years ago.Mélanie
Does this mean that Montebourg's girlfriend, the quite aggressive, obnoxious Audrey Pulvar, will be gone from On n'est pas couché? Conflict of interest to say the least! What exactly is the problem with Fouquet's? We used to go there all the time. It's expensive, yes, but since when has la gauche caviar had a problem with that? A separate VIP corner? What happened to egalité etc? Now it's "separate but equal, or better?"
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/05/07/francois-hollande-france-s-anti-sarkozy-president.htmlIt is my understanding the "VIP" corner wasn't a luxurious spot, but just a place where those who'd give speeches and had worked 24/7 on the campaign could celebrate. Begrudging them such a place seems quite disingenuous, especially since it looks like a lot of non-famous people are in the picture.Sarkozy's problems started when he didn't recognize why the Fouquet's was a problem (the place, the lenght of time he spent there, and the people he invited.) There were two excellent documentaries on France3 tonight, I hope you can catch them online.
