An American observer comments on French politics.
All of this is pretty depressing politically as it seems more and more that the choice for president will be the same on the left as on the right. That is, between a hyper-narcissist "grand gueule" (Montebourg, Sarko) that is in only for the show or a steady hand type that will stay the course towards the precipice (Valls, Fillon, maybe Juppé?). Montebourg is obviously right in this case, both politically and economically, but I could never trust him that he does something because is the right thing to do. I read his interview in Le Monde and was actually disgusted. Cincinnatus, my arse!
