Et Tu, Le Roux?

Another case of dubious nepotism: Interior Minister Bruno Le Roux appears to have employed his teenage daughters as parliamentary assistants, in some instances while they also held other jobs:

« Quotidien » affirme toutefois que certains de ces CDD effectués en tant qu’assistantes parlementaires ont pu se superposer avec des stages en entreprise ou le temps universitaire, à l’été 2013 pour l’une des filles de l’ancien député, 20 jours en mai 2015 pour l’autre, mettant ainsi en doute la réalité du travail accompli. Et attirant donc les soupçons sur de possibles emplois fictifs.
More grist for the tous pourris mill. In only Le Pen weren't compromise on this score herself, she could have a field day. I say he'll be gone by the end of the week.

Wrong, he'll be gone by end of business today if you ask me

I agree with Bernard!

Public opinion has shifted on this issue. What apparently was seen as normal is now seen as an indue privilege that the elite takes for themselves and that easily becomes a way to 'skim off'money.

My opinion :
Nationally elected officials as well as elected officials in cities and regionally (regions) shouldn't be allowed to employ family members.
(I make an exception for small towns. Like, where my in-laws live, pretty much all elected people are related to someone employed at town hall due to the town having 2,300 people, a large number of whom being elderly. And they can't really poach people from the next towns, because it's the major town in the county :) The gardener came from elsewhere but moved to another, bigger town.).

at 5pm Bruno has not yet packed his personal belongings from his office place Beauvau, he hasn't returned his parking badge either. That should have been done before noon.

You win, Bernard.

Done. Honest Fillon is in the crap with his accusations of persecution by justice.

Incidentally, the best solution would be for Cazeneuve to take back the Interior portfolio on top of his for the two remaining months, if you ask me.

Matthias Fekl a été nommé ministre de l'intérieur en remplacement de Bruno Le Roux

Oups, I loose. It would still have been the best solution in my view. LOL

Meanwhile the charges against Fillon are being widened and are becoming very serious. He could be looking at serious jail time.

Indeed. I can't believe Fillon would have been so stupid as to forge documents to prove Penelope put in her time at the coalface. Didn't anyone ever tell him it's not the crime that gets you, it's the coverup? Scoundrelism 101. Let's see if this crushes his "socle."

bernard said...

I suspect his socle is pretty solid at around 17%. This is the core of the core of the conservatives, they know he is a scoundrel, but he is their scoundrel. Expect a shift of maybe 1% towards MLP. I can't see much else happening: everybody who was going to leave must have left by now.

One interesting sideshow to this is unfailingly solid NKM. This is a public experiment into the depths to which a desperate failing politician can stoop.

I hope Fekl has good command of his troops as we are entering into a hot period for potential violent shenanigans, given all the attention and import of this election. Couldn't it have been another economy minister? Did it have to be the top cop??

@bernard, à propos NKM : I shamefuly drink deeply from the chalice of delusion, right to the very dregs.
Quite frankly I don't understand how and why someone that I considered intelligent and that I considered Macron-compatible and a possible asset if she was given the proper ministry, how can she be blinded (blackmailed or bribed ?) and remain among the very last few hussars of Fillon's praetorian guard, facing a very long political purgatory if not poltical death, period. Strange fate...
