Fillon Pulls a Bait and Switch on His Benefactor?

It's really too much. Médiapart says there is reason to doubt that Fillon returned to Robert Bourgi the same suits from Arnys he was given. Did he pull a bait and switch?

Flabbergasting if true.

Wait, whaaaaat?
Uncork that one for me. ...

Any idea if Fillon 's claim he's climbing true? Is he truly picking up steam?
What Worries me is that polls are made through the internet and 65+ people are less likely to be reached this way (landlines probably works best for this age group). Could old people's vote be underestimated? Could the Melenchon fear push them back to Fillon?

Myos, I was asking myself the same question in the previous thread, but this latest allegation brings FF's campaign to a Fargo-like level of ridicule. He may well be toast now.

This was the ridiculous cherry on top of this absurd sundae. Once again: you can't "give back" a bespoke suit. Hoping once this story radiates out from Mediapart a bit someone somewhere will mention that. Whatever happens with this election (and like all of you I am living on sleeping pills and tension headache medicine right now), the FF affair has been a stunning deep dive into what I hope and pray is a dying breed.

What would truly be scary would be a paleo trotskyst JLM - SozNat MLP second round. I have no idea how it would turn out and do not trust any polls on this as it is so far out. The North Korea - USA situation is definitely not helpful in this regard.

Alexandra,
Fillon did not return his bespoke suits to Ardys, which would indeed have been absurd, but to Robert Bourgi, the lawyer who paid for them, in order to "remove the appearance of impropriety." Bourgi was then presumably free to wear them himself, give them to charity, or find another pol with Fillon's measurements. In short, for Fillon, it was Bourgi's problem, not his, after he returned the suits. Which demonstrates both Fillon's obtuseness and the difficulty of being a bagman for African dictators.

And now Bourgi is saying that Fillon pressured him about those suits.

Although I don't like Melenchon, I wouldn't mind him ranking 3rd, well ahead of Fillon. :)

Like Bernard, I, too, am worried about a JLM-MLP second round. Art's article on Melenchon's rise ended with reference to his concern that the French had not lost their romantic attachment to revolutions. I'm reminded of the divisions in Spain before the Civil War 1936-1939, when the choice was framed as Franco or Communism, and writers lined up to take sides on the civil war (the name of a book of essays by each side's proponents). I can only hope that the comparison is inapt; to wit, violence has not marked the campaign. Perhaps that is something that indicates France is still capable of snapping back to its senses.

yes art i read more about this earlier today and did see that bit about returning to bourgi, so indeed not the issue i thought it would be if he had been returning them to arnys. but then hahaha returning made in holland off the rack to bourgi! the last straw apparently for m. françafrique -- his retort today was hysterical. FF has literally stepped in dog shit every time he's walked out the door. and he is rising in the polls. god help us all.
