Le Monde Reorganization Plan

Le Monde's reorganization plan has leaked to the press--the rest of the press, that is. The paper will attempt to reduce its size by 1,000 pages per year. This is to be achieved by a drastic cut in the book section, among other things. The paper lost 20 million euros last year.

They'll keep reducing the newspaper - already a meme section of a newspaper by US standards - until it's only four pages, and when it goes away no one will notice. It is not relevant any more; something around 250,000 copies a day in a country of more than 60 million...
