Méchanceté

As one who has mispronounced his share of French words, I blush for the president. Poor fellow can't catch a break. (And then there's this.)

When I was a kid and would mistake pronouncing new words, my parents would tell me that Harry Truman, too, would mispronounce long, three or more-syllabic words not because he was a dunce but because these were words which were part of his vocabulary through reading. He had never had the chance to hear and use them in conversation prior to his sojourn as VP and prez in DC. So the story goes.

Not really the same thing here, I know - Truman's slip-ups made him endearing while Sarkozy's make him...I dunno??
