Name and Shame

Travailler plus pour stresser plus ... Stress wasn't supposed to be the payoff for working harder, but, as the immortal Donald Rumsfeld observed, "stuff happens." So Xavier Darcos has decided to fight stress in the workplace by naming and shaming firms that don't shape up (as the government defines shaping up). Here's the list. Check to see if your employer is on it.

France has a social net which it can't sustain over the long term. I know Sarkozy gets blasted for the simplistic "travailler plus, etc..." But the underworked/overpaid West is deep in debt whereas the creditos in Asia are overworked/underpaid.
The larger issue also covers the retirement age & the 35 hour work week.
I love in varying degrees:
1) the quality of life in France
2) the social security system
3) the vacation time existing by law and offered by my employer

I don't think 1 & 2 are sustainable in current conditions. I don't think 3 has ever been sustainable - but I am not complaining!

The fact that there is a president who says "travaillez plus..." is already a plus since it brings a dose of reality to the table. Even if the punchline, in reality, is "...et tant pis pour votr' tronche si vous stressez à donf'".

There is 3 categories on the website: Green / Orange / Red. And it seems like the all the companies are listed in the green (Good) category ...

Not true ... try Ile-de-France, where hundreds of companies are in the red category, for example.

Prehaps it was when you last checked, but it's not anymore, or at leat, I can't see it, as you can see on this screenshot: http://redstack.net/screenshot.gif :)

Ah, I see: they say they're preparing a new list. I guess the "shaming" got some action.

Yes, or perhaps they wanted some buzz, but could not ashame too much companies. So they only put the list online enough time for journalists to make the buzz, and not enough for people to get the list. I know I am a bit paranoid, but I assume that. Anyway, I am just making some hypothesis, nothing serious ;)
