On Aubry's Deteriorating Position

Aubry's position deteriorated further tonight: Royal is a candidate.
(Reinforcing the idea that Aubry, with her declaration on Wednesday, badly miscalculated; or perhaps she meant for the statement to push Royal into the fray and she was thus successful).
Anyway, Royal is now free to campaign for a year while Aubry waits for DSK's decision ... unless Aubry is force to declare herself a candidate. Of course, since we know Aubry and Royal had lunch and presumably talked about the announcement, we may reinterpret Royal's announcement to mean that neither DSK nor Aubry are candidates...???
(I don't think so, but who knows?)

DSK v. Royal v. Hollande, that's a match worth seeing for fans of French politics.

According to Gérard Grunberg, a researcher who supports (-ed?) Strauss Kahn, Aubry is vanishing from the landscape.
