Politique Fiction

Instead of un remaniement, une dissolution? A victory of the Left, Martine Aubry as Sarkozy's next prime minister? Sarko defeated by Marine Le Pen in the first round of 2012? Aubry elected president? Listen to Paul Quilès spin out his fantasy ...

It wouldn't be a bad move for Sarkozy actually; he'd be sure to win in 2012.

Re: Marine Le Pen, she got a wonderful spread in Paris-Match just this week -- shopping with a a friend, complaining about schools that don't teach proper spelling because her youngest daughter sends her an SMS riddled with errors, she laughs, she looks cool, she looks distinguished, she admits to keeping an abandoned kitty... (I'm not making the last one up).
She's becoming "mainstream" in her media presence, she's dropped the antisemitic rhetorics and she has some good populist slogans that could attract working-class voters -- even if she sounds mainstream, the Le Pen ideology is nothing but (foreigners, whether big corporations or muslim workers, are the root of all evil). So, Marine Le Pen #2 in 2012, well, that's far from impossible.
