eBooks in France

French publishers have been slow to adapt to the evolving world of eBooks. Nonfiction.fr attempts to explain why.

It's worth noting that the legistlature passed, a few weeks ago, a low lowering VAT on ebooks from 19.6% to 5.5% (the rate used for books), which may help open things up a bit. But I'm not surprised; French publishers are extremenly conservative, and French readers/users are much more hesitant than those in the US to adopt new technologies.
