Merci for posting the link to this book. Will definitely read.

The story of la grande creu de 1910 really hits home. There is a marker in the courtyard  of our house in Paris, built ca 1632. The damage in stories recounted by family and neighbors was devastating.

In the film "Camille Claudel" starring Isabelle Adjani and Gerard Depardieu as Rodin, you can see how the flood almost drowned the sculptress, the mistress of Rodin, in her studio. Camille Claudel was
rescued from her atelier at 19, Quai Bourbon on the Île
St.-Louis. The Great Paris Flood affected not only Rodin’s ex-mistress—it rendered more than 150,000 Parisians homeless. A quarter of the buildings in Paris were inundated.
